When we commenced our State of Escape journey there were a few other brands we recognised as having their own unique vision. We followed Olympia on her creative journey and loved what we saw. We knew there was a real person, with a real story behind the collections and were curious to find out more.
There were also many creative parallels between our brands, the love of colour, simple yet purposeful and beautifully crafted design. Not overly embellished, just the real deal. Bold. Strong. Feminine. Full of gorgeous neutral colours that transcend seasons. Contemporary designs that stay wearable year after year.
So, of course we were very excited to work with Olympia's founder and designer Kaili Scheer to create our latest collaborative design – a limited edition Escape tote.
Working with the neutral colour tones that Olympia is admired for, and inspired by the colour of vintage leather this luxurious ‘saddle’ brown fabrication was created. The most amazingly beautiful deep tan colour finished with a custom made Italian rope. The perfect accessory to compliment the Olympia activewear collection of beautifully crafted, creative pieces ready to inspire your fitness regime.
We agree with Kaili that more and more people are seeking brand stories rather than just products themselves. “We’re seeing our customers relating to brand identity as much as the product itself. It’s really a cool time to be creating and making.”
Kaili lives where she grew up – on one of the most idyllic islands in the world, Maui. We wanted to find out more about her childhood, how it influenced her and her favourite ways to escape.
“Living on an island really inspired me to be my own boss. I also grew up with two artist parents who ran their own business. So, my love of art and design started from a very early age. It’s in my bones! We had an art studio with huge work tables and all kinds of mediums to play with. And of course, this is where I found my love for the outdoors. Working out is my ultimate escape – in all different forms. Hiking, yoga, barre, swimming, Pilates and cycling.”
Kaili’s bucket list destinations?
“Iceland for the northern lights. Japan so I can eat ramen morning, noon and night. And Morocco, for amazing rug shopping and my textile inspiration.”
