We recently took part in a class at Silver Springs, one of the hottest workout spots in Los Angeles. Join us on a tour of the studio and learn about its mission via founder, Olivia.

Silver Springs sits on a buzzy corner in the heart of the West Hollywood Design District, but don't be misled by the noisy locale. Behind a wholesome entrance - antique barn doors and creeping fig - lies an oasis for mind and body; a reprieve from the relentless LA hustle and bustle. It is here that we meet Olivia Spralja, the founder of Silver Springs, a heated pilates, yoga and HIIT studio dedicated to the experience and joy of movement.

What first drew you to Pilates, and how did your personal practice evolve into Silver Springs?

My mom would bring me to her pilates classes when I was a teenager so I was around that type of movement fairly young! It wasn't until after years of teaching yoga did I revisit it and now it's a daily practice! There are about a thousand things that had to fall into place to result in Silver Springs. But if I had to say one thing it would be, to care, a lot.

How would you describe the philosophy or mission of Silver Springs?

The mission and philosophy of Silver Springs lies more in doing rather than saying so I always find it challenging to put into words. But since you asked, it is to curate an unforgettable experience by providing the highest quality pilates, yoga and fitness classes with an irresistible personal touch.

What kind of people typically walk through the door at Silver Springs — and what do you hope they leave with?

Strangers walk into Silver Springs and it turns out they are also the best people I've ever met. I hope they leave feeling loved and like the best version of themselves.

You're off to a Pilates retreat - what do you pack?

My besties.

In what ways do you think a yoga/Pilates practice benefits our day to day work life?

Not to sound dramatic, but yoga, pilates and working out changed my life. It keeps my brain happy and healthy and allows me to enjoy every aspect of my life more fully.

Are there any wellness myths about Pilates that you wish more people understood?

All movement practices are important. If you love it, that makes me so happy. Find things that bring you joy, that make you feel your best and don't stress too much about doing the thing that everyone is doing. It's all good.

For those who are new to Pilates, what is one small habit or mindset shift that you recommend, to kickstart physical or mental transformation?

Just do it. Nike nailed it.

What does escape mean to you?

Immediately, as someone who loves to dive into a challenge, escape means running away, or getting out of something you should do. But then I think about it and it actually sounds really nice. To be free! To relinquish control! I guess both are true and I honestly could use a little more of the latter.
